About the Property

The Bank of Nova Scotia's historic Head Office was designed and built in 1930 by world renowned architect John M. Lyle. The property has 45,000 square feet of leaseble area and is located in the heart of Halifax's financial district within easy walking distance of the major financial, legal and government offices. The Bank of Nova Scotia serves as both the Landlord and the primary Tenant.

The building is easily accessible with all major bus routes to and from the city core passing near the property and over 4,500 parking spaces within a three block radius. The building has close proximity to Halifax's historic waterfront and is surrounded by the vibrant core of the city with its many fine shops, restaurants and hotels.

Hardman Group Services - Bank of Nova Scotia Building

In 1986, The Hardman Group Limited was retained by the Bank of Nova Scotia to manage its historic Head Office building. In 1990, the Hardman Group played a major role in identifying a problem with the building's exterior stonework; many of the stones were moving and some were in danger of coming loose. In 1991, the Hardman Group was retained as project manager to perform a complete restoration of the building's exterior stone cladding. This work, valued at $3.5 million, involved removing every individual stone, repairing the steel structure, repairing each stone off-site, and the replacing the stones. The project was completed in 1993.
