Business owners in the HRM will soon have another option for locating their business to a more environmentally sustainable work environment. 

The Hardman Group recently announced a new mixed-use business campus will be developed on a 15.9-acre site located in the heart of Burnside Industrial Park.  Situated on a 30-foot hill on the corner of Wright Avenue and Burnside Drive, the site will be developed into a workplace which will include office, hotel and commercial space. 

The campus will be ideally positioned in one of Atlantic Canada’s most dynamic and growing business locations and will offer future tenants prime visibility and incredible, panoramic views of Halifax Harbour and Bedford Basin.

The project will be developed over a number of phases over the next several years and will include four office buildings totaling 225,000 sq ft, a 100-room hotel and 18,000 sq ft of commercial/retail space. Construction on the project is anticipated to begin in the Spring of 2009 and will continue over several years until all components are completed.

The Hardman Group is currently working closely with several team partners, including Breakhouse Design and Second Source Power, to further develop the vision of the campus and to ensure the project is planned in way that promotes sustainable development and management practices as well as respect for people visiting or working at the campus. 

Buildings will be positioned to take advantage of sun exposure, connection with other buildings and the natural landscape, while sizes and layouts are flexible and will be designed with tenant needs in mind. Architectural type, infrastructure design and materials used will limit the impact on the environment and will encourage practices that will reduce our carbon footprint.
