In 1990, the Hardman Group was instrumental in identifying a problem with the building's exterior stonework. Many of the stones were moving and were in danger of coming loose. The Hardman Group was retained as project manager to perform a complete restoration of the building's exterior stone cladding. The work, valued at $3.5 million, involved removing every individual stone, repairing the steel structure, repairing each stone off-site, and then replacing the stones.
